You’re reading today’s headlines online. As you scroll through the text, you notice several words are highlighted, and when you hover over them, you get a sort of pop-up ad. Less annoying than true pop-up ads, these “in-text”, or contextual, ads have the ability to hold a whole mini-multimedia experience.
Vibrant Media, a company that only produces in-text ads, actually has awards for these contextual advertising experiences. Check out the nominees here.

So a random Google image search for “print ad” returned, among 1,920,000 others, this WWF ad.
I love the concept of Tarzan swinging into nothingness because, as the copy reads, “15 km3 of rain forest disappears every minute.” I just think the illustration is beautiful, with the storm clouds contrasting the vibrant green.
