4-H National Youth Science Day 2008

During the 2008 National 4-H Week, October 5-11, 2008, the first annual 4-H National Youth Science Day (NYSD) took place.  Each year on 4-H National Youth Science Day, a designated science activity experiment will be made available to the 6 million 4-H youth, plus parents, teachers, students, and youth organizations across the nation.

The national science activity supports the goal established by National 4-H Council of attracting 1 million new youth to 4-H science, engineering, and technology programs by the year 2013.  This year’s science experiment focused on the environment and used science principles to teach youth across the country about the importance of water conservation.

One of my projects as Marketing Assistant for Nebraska State 4-H was to develop a script for our own LIVE video stream of the experiment.  The kids were great, but they didn’t have much time to memorize the script so its a bit choppy in parts.  However, the video is now available!!

Watch the Video HERE.

Another project I completed that correlated with this event was Go Clover Green: Tips & Activities for 4-Hers and Their Clubs. (The link allows you to view/download this pdf)  The tips and activities are based around the reduce/reuse/recycle model, and are applicable for anyone “going green” or looking for activities for youth.
