The aplusk/Oprah Twitter Effect

April 19, 2009 at 10:30 pm 5 comments

All I’m going to say right now is that if @oprah keeps gaining followers at what I calculate to be 3/second, she will reach 1 million by Wednesday, April 19, at 5 AM CDT.  And, for the record, I will not be one of those followers! I do, however, find this an interesting phenom.

Why will I not be one of those followers? Because of the lack of respect I feel she showed Evan Williams when he was on the show.

Stay tuned for my upcoming blog post on Evan William’s visit to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln!

In what way was she disrespectful? Sorry, it flew by me, whatever it was. Oprah seems to be so into her own world, or at least a world I do not entirely understand. For that reason I guess I just see what I expect from her.

Well, I’m not an oprah fan to begin with, so I guess that gives me a negative bias right off the bat! I just feel that without Evan Williams, there would be no twitter, and therefore give him a chance to speak about the wonderfulness! That’s my viewpoint in a nutshell 🙂

I think O is not as good an interviewer as much as an entertainer. If you come from that standpoint, then you don’t expect so much.

I’m not much of a fan either. I used to watch her years ago, and did once about a year ago. She seemed so much more full of herself now, she’s just other worldly, so that’s what I expect.
